The merger will create a global powerhouse in the large format digital inkjet business [ 10-12-2009 ]

Agfa Graphics has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire most of the assets of Gandinnovations Holdings LLC, including the company’s North American and ME&A operations and the shares of its principal foreign subsidiaries. Gandinnovations since May 2009 has been operating under CCAA protection in Canada and Chapter 15 in the USA.
Combined with recent announcements on Agfa Graphics’ high-end M-Press Tiger industrial flatbed inkjet press and the launch of new printing engines in the Anapurna large format range, the acquisition of the assets of Gandinnovations strengthens Agfa Graphics’ leadership in large format inkjet printing systems. The portfolio now ranges from the entry level Annapurna to the full range of Jeti flat bed and roll to roll systems.
“The combination of Gandinnovations’ products and Agfa Graphics’ products will result in substantial growth for our inkjet business based on an even more complete system portfolio,” said Richard Barham, Agfa Graphics’ Vice President Inkjet.
Hary Gandy, CEO and co-founder of Gandinnovations, said, “The combined Agfa-Gandi company will create a global powerhouse in the large format digital inkjet business. Furthermore, joining Agfa offers Gandinnovations’ staff and customers tremendous opportunities for the future. The combined capabilities and coverage in customer service and research and development will accelerate the launch of new products, deliver new business opportunities and further expand our service to our customers.”
“We are in process of getting out of CCAA/Chapter 15. We will have basically the full spectrum of digital printing equipment to offer, while we have the best service team in the market. I am excited about this, and I look forward to the SGI January 2010 show in Dubai,” he added.
Abdallah Ghalayini, Regional Managing Director, ME&A, Gandinnovations, said, “We will become a division of a financially strong company, whose current graphics division has the lower and higher range of digital printers. The level of support and customer relation is planned to stay at the same high level our customers have been enjoying with us and we will be looking into only finding more ways to improve it.”
